Ethel Glover Obituary

Ethel B. Glover was born a 'Southern girl' from Spanish Fort, Alabama on September 20,1934 to Virgil D. and Irene (Green) Watts. Ethel was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Aid M.B. Church in Daphne, Alabama.

After graduating from Baldwin County Training School in Daphne, AL, Ethel moved to Chicago, IL where she started a career as a cosmetologist. She worked as a cosmetologist for more than 30 years before she retired. Ethel loved doing hair and socializing with her clients. She enjoyed her profession so much you could find her doing someone's hair at her home outside of her regular schedule.

One day, Ethel took the CTA Bus to head home after a long day at the salon. That bus ride is the day she met her husband, Nathaniel R. Glover. If you don't know the story, just know that Nate worked day and night to steal our girl's, Duckie, heart.

Ethel and Nate fell in love, got married, and spent 50 beautiful years together. Along the way they raised a village of children and grandchildren together. If there is anything to know about Duckie, you know that she cannot sit still very long. She came out of retirement and started driving a school bus with her husband by her side. It's probably hard to imagine Mrs. Ethel with a bus full of kids (SMH)...

Mrs. Ethel B. Glover enjoyed many things in life like fishing, bowling, playing the lottery and scratch off tickets, and let's not forget about them horse! She also loved to cook and dance. All Duckie needed was some Maze and Frankie Beverly and she would get down and do her thing. (LOL).

Ethel 'Duckie' Glover is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nate; son, Vincent (Donnie), and Autry; four sisters, and three brothers.

Ethel leaves behind to honor her life: two sisters, Pauline (Pat) Tate; brother, Raymond (Cup) Watts; her children: Janice, Johnette, Venita, Clanda, Roger and Sabrina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandkids, great-grandkids, and many, many, more. I said it was a village. The Family' thanks everyone.
