Mattie, the seventh of eight children, was born March 16, 1921 in Jackson, Tennessee to William and Flora Theus.
Mattie accepted Christ at an early age and attended Great Hope Baptist Church in Robbins, Illinois for many years. She graduated, at the top of her class, from Community High School in Blue Island, [llinois. Always wanting to better educate herself, Mattie was an abundant reader until her site diminished. After numerous years of employment, Mattie retired from Oak Forest Hospital.
Mattie met and married Mr. James Adams, whopreceded herin death. She was also preceded in death by hersisters Ruth, Fairy, Retta Mae, and her brothers Dorsey, John, Willie, and Lucius.
On November 12, 2018, Mattie completed herearthly journey. “Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.” — Psalm 100:4

Mattie leaves to cherish her memory nephews Frank Witcher, Jr. (Claudette), Herbert Ruffin (Arlene), Daniel Ruffin, John “Butch” Witcher (Carolyn), Bradley Ruffin, Michael Theus, nieces Jewell Witcher, Sharon W. Nicholson, Chameko Dorsey (Michael), CassandraTheus-Hennings, LaTonya Ruffin, Teresa Ruffin, Leona Lewis, Amy Theus, Kristin Ruffin, two dear friends, Mrs. Jesse Johnson and Mrs. Anne Cook and a hostof other family and friends.
