Later he joined Pioneer Baptist Church where Pastor James Buder was the Pastor. He went on to join New Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, also under the leadership of Rev. Buder, until he (Pastor Buder) made his transition. Deacon Cooper fellowshipped under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth Jones at Refreshing Life Christian Center, where he and his wife were members.
Alan leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of twenty-one years, Sharon Cooper, whom he married on September 19, 2003, two stepdaughters, Tiffany Gena' and Sharonika (Gali) Chavez. He also leaves a previous wife, Patricia Cooper, and their two children, David Cooper and Laura (Elon) Terrell (Waco, TX); two sisters Antionette Jones and Susan (Jimmy) Dudley, one brother, Kenyatta Cooper, and two siblings who preceded him in death, John (Valerie) Cooper and Ornetha Cooper.
