Arnold Funches Obituary
Arnold R. Funches, affectionately known as "Wes", began his life journey on September 14, 1954 in Tunica, Mississippi; to Barbara Jean Funches. In 1955, Wes and his mother moved to Chicago, IL., where he was raised on the cities Westside.
Arnold attended William Penn Elementary School and Farragut High School. Wes was known for his strong work ethic, having worked in factories and as a popular bartender in lounges spanning from the Westside to Hyde Park; he was a cool gent who loved music and embraced life to the fullest.
Arnold "Wes" Funches departed this life on July 30, 2024. He leaves behind a loving family: his mother, Barbara Funches; his wife, Linnie "Peaches" Cook Funches; brothers: Dwayne "Pat" Funches, Perez Funches, Lanfrey "Boonie" Funches, Nevins "Nev" Funches, and guardian brother, Jimmy.
Arnold is also survived by his sisters, Suki Funches and Anita Funches; his two children, Arnold "Goldie" Wilson and Tisheena Thomas; and a stepson, Vernon Cook. Wes was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Stacy Wilson, Ethan Sallie, Jamie "Cupcake" Cook, Keri Cook, Angelo Cook. Arnold will be fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding him in death are his brothers: Anthony "Pookie" Funches and Eric "E" Funches; nieces: Rodjzae Funches-Heard and Shaquita Funches; nephews: Joshua Funches and Corey Funches. "Wes's" legacy of love, hard work, and joy for life will be cherished by all who knew him.
