Barbara Hadley's Obituary
Barbara Hadley Obituary
On December 25, 1956 in Chicago, IL, Heaven released a beautiful flower in the person of Barbara Ann Leverson. God chose Juanita and Albert Leverson to bring forth a gift of life. She shared a loving bond with (4) siblings whom she admired and adored singing as the Leverson Singers.Barbara attended Williams Shakespeare and Altgeld Elementary School.
She continued her education in William Rainey Harper High School where she graduated and received her high school diploma. Barbara accepted many achievements and singing awards while participating on the debate team and gospel chorus.
On September 27, 1986 in Chicago, Illinois, Barbara united in holy matrimony to Courtney Andrew Hadley. That covenant of love lasted for over 32 wonderful years. Their love personified through the birth and rearing of their son, Courtney Andrew Hadley, Jr. Barbara was devoted to her husband in every way. They would travel, shop and make sweet music together.
Barbara loved her son with all her heart and shared the most precious gift of singing with him. They became a dynamic duo with music.
Barbara made one of the most important decisions of her life by accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She cultivated her love for Christ by joining Evangelist Hope Pentecostal Church during the year 1970, under the leadership of Bishop Walter S. Nash. The truth came alive with her creativity and fire for the Word of God. Barbara captivated the hearts of many as she directed and became the lead soloist of the choir. She also participated in the Youth Forum as one of the scripture kids.
Barbara pursued her career as a known gospel singer, vocal coach at Muzicnet School of Music in Park Forest, IL and lead singer for The Ambassadors for Christ and Reflections From Heaven music groups. She continued to use her gifted talent with singer Kim Stratton, Kim Burrell, Kim McFarland, Hezekiah Walker, Jennifer Hudson, James Cleveland, The Hawkins Family, Jubilee Show Case, Saturday Night Sing TV shows, Faith Outreach Christian Center, Christian Life Center Choir, The Leverson Singers and many, many more.
Barbara Ann desired to please God and make significant “GOD” deposits in the lives of everyone she encountered. That desire lead her to write songs, write and direct theatricals productions, mentored troubled youths and evangelized throughout the United States of America. As a result of her generous spirit and loving personality, she catered meals and baked goodies for her family, facilities and friends. Barbara had a special love for all of her nieces and nephews. She attended every childbirth and ceremonies of achievements that occurred. Barbara will never be forgotten.
During her illness, Barbara never gave up her hope in God. You can only imagine how this new found freedom ignited a richer flame in which she could share Jesus. Being blessed with so many God given talents, she used them as avenues to which she could communicate the love of Jesus. Whether it was through her singing, cooking, loving, and giving Christ seen at all times.
Her life will be cherished in the hearts of her faithful and devoted husband, Courtney Hadley Sr., (son) Courtney, Jr., (siblings) John (Wanda), Rocky (Mildred), Beatrice, Sharon (George), Auntie Mary (George), her love reached out and embraced her adopted brother Herbert (Sabrina) and sister Shinette (Roy); nieces, nephews, favorite cousins Sam (Dorothy) and a host of relatives and friends of whom she anxiously anticipate meeting in that great reunion.
