Bervery Jewel Cornett's Obituary
Bervery Cornett Obituary
Beverly Jewel Cornett was born on March 19, 1951, to the union of Curtis Carr Sr. and Rosa Carr of Chicago Heights, Illinois. Beverly (known to many as Jewel) was the middle child of five. She often spoke of cherished memories created with her parents and siblings growing up. Beverly welcomed Christ into her life at an early age. Her Family were faithful members of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago Heights, Illinois under the leadership of Rev. Piper. It was there that Beverly was baptized.
Beverly graduated from Bloom High School. She continued her educational journey in Illinois, where she attended Prairie State College. Beverly started her career in banking at the Old National Bank of Homewood. Later on in life, Beverly began a long career with BP (formerly known as Amoco); dedication and hard work led to several promotions, with her ultimately becoming a district manager. Her love for Christ and desire to lead others to him, led Beverly to become an ordained minister.
Early on in life, Beverly married Jerome Peters and welcomed beloved daughters, Kyhra and Brandi. Though their marriage ended, Beverly continued to build a life filled with happiness and devotion to her family, always ensuring her daughters were showered with love. Beverly later married Kenneth Wade, becoming a caring stepmother to Melissa. Kenneth preceded her in death. Beverly was introduced to Ray Cornett and the two quickly became inseparable. They were united in holy matrimony on April 30, 1994. They shared 30 years of love, laughter, and happiness until his passing in May 2024.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Rosa Carr, spouses, Kenneth Wade and Ray Cornett, sister-in-love, Diana Carr, and brother-in love, Roy Cobb Sr. She leaves to cherish her love and memories: sister Laura Cobb, brother Johnny Michael (Diane) Carr, Sr., brother Curtis Carr Jr., sister Rosa Lynne (Charles Sr.) Smith. Her loving children Kyhra Glenn, Brandi (Michael) Brown, and Melissa Wade. Five grandchildren Craig (CJ) Jr., Neiman, Raelyn Jewel, Elora Rose, Khara, and one great-grandchild Zuri. Her childhood and forever best friend, Ollie Scott Yarbrough, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends!
Beverly's life was a testament to resilience, love, the importance of Family, and her unwavering faith in God! She will be missed tremendously, but we rejoice knowing she is resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord!
