Blondell Weaver was born in Earle, Arkansas July 28, 1922 to the union of James H. Stanton Jr. and Lelia A. Stanton. She was their fourth child and the “Baby” of the family. One brother; Willie B, and two sisters; Emily Lenore and Lettie Mae preceded her in death.
In 1935 at the tender age of 13, The Lord filled her with the Holy Spirit under the leadership of Elder E.M. Day of Round Pond Arkansas Church of God in Christ. She loved to recall, “when her dear cousin Avery would have the pleasure of walking them home from church on Mondays.” The close friendships between all of her cousins lasted for the duration of their lives. She received her education at Dunbar Public School in the county of Crittenden Arkansas.
In 1940 she was united in Holy Matrimony to J.J. Weaver of Memphis, Tennessee. Nine children were born into this union, five sons and four daughters. Blondell and J.J. had a special love for children and they touched the lives of two more daughters in a meaningful and life sustaining way. Madear loved all of her children dearly and she had a special way of bringing out the best in everyone.
Blondell and J.J. moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1946. They relocated to Robbins, Il in the early 1950’s and then onto Markham, Il in 1967. She joined Roberts Temple Church of God In Christ where she served faithfully under the leadership of the late Bishop Isaiah L. Roberts as well as Pastor Cleven Wardlow. Deaconess Blondell Weaver was a member of the renowned Gospel Pearls Choir and was happy to have served as President of the Pastors Aide Committee. She also served on the Building Fund Committee during the historic 1992-1993 remodeling of the church sanctuary. She had enduring love and affection for the Roberts Temple Family.
Blondell retired from Purified Downs Company as a seamstress, and she made many lifelong friends there. She was a staunch advocate for workers’ rights, and once traveled to Washington D.C. to represent her local union. There she employed her firm but gentle way of persuasion.
In her later years she relocated to San Antonio, Texas where she joined Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. She faithfully served as Church Mother under the Leadership of Superintendent Unice C. Braziel. Mother Weaver loved to spread the gospel by sharing her life long passion for singing. She touched the lives of many and they cherished her gentle spirit.
Blondell Weaver peacefully departed this life surrounded by loved ones on December 15th 2018 at 4:37 p.m. after a prolonged illness.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, John J. Weaver of Harvey, IL, Larry E. Weaver and wife LaVaura of Park Forest Il. Three daughters; Blondell L. Weaver of Park Forest, IL, Jacqueline R. Shipp of Universal City Tx, and Lynnora R. Weaver of Universal City, TX. Her loving husband of fifty-four years, J.J. Weaver, daughter Dorothy M. Scott and Sons William E. Weaver, James E. Weaver, and Robert C. Weaver preceded her in death.Her legacy continues through twenty-three grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren, thirty-four great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
