Bobbie Jean Bragg was born in Chidester, Arkansas on August 7, 1935, as the only child to Luevenia and Buck Lilly. Both parents preceded her in death. Bobbie's journey on this earth ended on Monday, January 27, 2025, but her memory will remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
Bobbie embraced Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and became a member of Shiloh A.M.E. Church. Later as a young adult, she joined St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church but, upon retiring and returning to Arkansas, rejoined Shiloh A.M.E. Church, where she remained a devoted and resolute member.
Throughout her time there, she faithfully served as Treasurer for more than 15 years. Bobbie's educational journey began in Chidester, Arkansas. She graduated from Chidester Colored High School in I',)53- She attended Agricultural, Mechanical and Normal College (AM&N) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology in I',)57·
Soon after, Bobbie earned her Master's Degree in Education. At this time, her pursuit of mentoring, guiding, inspiring, nurturing and encouraging young minds began. She was an enthusiastic and devoted educator who touched the lives of countless scholars throughout Chicagoland.
Bobbie entered holy matrimony with Samuel Bragg on June 7, 1961, and together they were blessed with three wonderful children. Their union was built on love and faith, creating a warm and nurturing home. As loving parents, they dedicated their lives to raising their children with strong values, kindness, and integrity. Their marriage was a testament to commitment and partnership, filled with cherished memories and a deep bond that lasted sixty-two years.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her daughter, Dr. Cassandra Bragg-Collins; bonus son, Daryl Bragg; bonus daughter, Angie Smith; and dear friend, gaming and shopping partner, Louise Latham.
Although Bobbie is no longer by our side, her love, spirit, and guidance remain and uplift all who were blessed to know her. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her loving husband, Samuel Bragg; two sons, Limuel (Audrey Louise) Bragg, Samuel Bragg; one son-in-law, Michael Collins; bonus daughter, Debra Bragg; two brothers-in-law, Frank Bragg, Richard Hill; two sisters-in-law, Trudell Hill, Carol Bragg. Bobbie also leaves a legacy of love to a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and beloved friends.
