Catherine Julia Nance was born on July 19, 1923 in Franklin, North Carolina and was one of two children born to Eva Love. Eva Love, her mother was one of two surviving triplets at birth.
Catherine accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Beacon Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Her older brother, Reverend Eugene James Love preceded her in death in 1999 at the age of 78. Catherine was married to Samuel Thomas who preceded her in death in 1954.
Catherine then married James Nance who preceded her in death in 1977. Catherine had 5 children: Theodore Charles (preceded her in death), Tyrone Lewis (Greta),
Bartholomew Edward, Deborah Ann and Jimmy, the baby (Dottie). Catherine was loved by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Catherine grew up in North Carolina and eventually lived in Florida, Georgia and finally settled down in Chicago, Illinois where she raised her family. Catherine was fondly nicknamed “Nanny Goat” by her closest friends and “Cat” and “Time Bomb” by her family. Catherine worked for the Post Office, Union Carbide and her last profession was as a care giver to the elderly. Catherine loved playing bingo and playing cards on weekends in her younger years. She will be truly missed and was loved by so many family, friends and care takers.
