“The only thing worse than losing her would be to have never loved her at all.â€My Chi-town aunt, Auntie Jean, was a fabulous lady. As the new year began, she left us unexpectedly and quietly in her sleep. But she did not live quietly. She was bold, beautiful, sweet and sassy. If she liked you, you knew it. She’d kiss you and hug you for so long, like she never wanted to let go. But woe to the person who earned her ire. She could cut you up one side and down the other with words alone! She was also forgiving. All qualities I admired. She was my early style icon with her afro, pierced nose, fur coats, fly clothes - she was funky chic, always seemed to be going somewhere and doing something exciting. When I was old enough to “go out†with her it was dancing and laughing all night long! As the years went by it was more about enjoying meals (she loved to cook), conversations and each other’s company during family visits. I know my mom will miss her only sister and their daily phone calls immensely. All of us will smile and cry through the memories.Auntie Jean ended all of our conversations with “I love you Tricia. Tell the kids I love them, too.†Tonight we’ll watch one of her favorite movies, “The Bodyguardâ€. She would say “he loved her so much!†We love you Auntie Jean! So much. RIP

Jean I will never forget your phone calls when I would go south to  visit. You were funny and full of life. When I was younger, I just knew that you made the best Rice Krispy treats in the world. You always made sure that I was aware of how much you loved me , you gave me great advise when I was struggling with a few things , and You showed that you cared when I was sick.
