Elizabeth Averyheart's Obituary
Elizabeth Averyheart Obituary
Elizabeth Averyheart was born in Columbus, Mississippi on July 24th 1928 to the union of George and Lettie Turner. She married Ben Averyheart in 1947 after moving to Chicago, IL. From this marriage came three sons: Ben, Jr., Sylvester and Robert. Elizabeth and Ben moved to Markham, IL in 1959 to start a new life for them and their boys. Elizabeth entered the nursing program at the VA in 1950 and became a medical nurse at Hines VA for the next 35 years. Mrs. Averyheart found Christianity at an early age.
In the early 80’s Elizabeth joined Valley Kingdom Ministries and was the personal nurse of Apostle H. Daniel Wilson until the deteriorating health of Ben, her love, caused her to give up the position to care for him. Elizabeth stayed by his side until his passing.
Elizabeth loved the company of people and anyone and everyone was always welcome in her house. Elizabeth loved her niece Christine as if she was her daughter and considered her as her oldest child. Her grandkids were the jewels of her life constantly talking about them and always worried about them if she hadn’t heard from them regularly. Her most loved conversation was her career as a nurse. If you ever visited Elizabeth, by the time you were leaving you had undoubtedly been in a conversation about her nursing. Elizabeth got her call to come home on Monday, December 10th after 90 years on this earth.
She leaves behind three sons: Benjamin, Jr., Sylvester and Robert; two daughters-in-law: Rosalind and Deborah; daughter-in-law, Laura preceded her in death; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, spiritual daughters and sons; and many friends that knew her
