Evelyn C. Moore was born to the union of Clyde N. Mackins, Sr., and Arlene Mackins on April 25, 1937 in Ullin IL. Her parents preceded her in death.
She was raised in Pulaski IL and attended Bannaker Elementary School. She received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and attended Bell Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. Johnny Posey. She also joined True Vine Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Dr. Steven D. Lewis.
On December 7, 1953, Evelyn Claudine Mackins, (Dean) married the love of her life, Donald Eugene Moore Sr., (Gene) in Cario, IL. To this union 13 children were born. Her husband Donald Eugene Moore Sr., One son Donald Eugene Moore Jr., two daughters, Yolanda Cathy and Mashama Moore and one grandson, Bobby Pounds preceded her in death.
Evelyn had various jobs, but her main career started at Willow Hall, working with children with developmental needs. She then transfer over to Howe Center in 1974 where she had numerous positions, from a Mental Health Technician to Supervisor. During her first years in Howe, she and others with the help of our dad established Howe’s first union where she became the first Union President under ASFCME. She retired from Howe in 1999.
Evelyn was also preceded in death by brothers Marvin McBride Sr., Clyde N. Mackins II, and Sisters, Elthel Trice, Joan Grant, and Lois Jean Mack.
She leaves to always cherish her memory five sons; Marlon (Earlesia), Norvell (Mary), Andre (Janice), Brian (Lisa), Rodney (Rosetta), Torian and five daughters; Denette (Michael) Anderson, Carmelita, Marilyn, Joyce, Venita (Charles) Brunt, three sisters; MaeDelle Smith, Marva Adkinson, Eunice McClung; two brothers-in-law; Phineas (Linda) Moore, Ronald Moore; five sisters-in-law; Earnistine Mackins, Catherine Moore, Betty Nelson, Lottie McClure; 30 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild on the way and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
