Faye Newton's Obituary
Faye Newton Obituary
Faye Jeanette Wheaton was born to parents Tillis and Virgie Wheaton on February 8, 1938, in Montrose, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Herman Wheaton, and younger sister Yvone Turner. Faye's education included elementary, high school, and graduation from junior college.
Faye worked as a cook at Americana Nursing Home (Manor Care) for many years. Faye was a former member of Mt. Zion F.H.M Baptist Church, then under the leadership of Pastor Levan Brayboy. She would always make him vegetable soup. He nicknamed her "The Soup Lady". There she served as a member of the Gospel Choir.
Faye later transferred her membership to Mt. Calvary M.B. Church, under the leadership of Pastor Ralph Brown, Sr. Sis. Faye was the nurse for Pastor Brown, and a great nurse she was! Faye had a heart of gold! If you had the pleasure of meeting her, you know that she had a signature, infectious laugh!
Faye was the neighborhood mom! "Ms. Newt" was what they called her. She even babysat a few. Besides her children, you could always find other kids in tow. Whether it was going to the corner store or to Ada Park, "Ms. Newt" loved the kids!
Faye took her heavenly rest on June 23, 2024. She leaves to cherish her memories to her children: Leonard C. (Patricia) Newton, Derrick Newton, LaQuendia (Donald) Gregory, Kimberly Qoe) Grandberry, Tawana Newton Qerome Samuels), and Mario (Tyonna) Newton; her Goddaughter, Missey Haynes; Brother-in-law, Roosevelt Turner; Sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Wheaton; her Grandchildren: Jade, Angel, Leonard
