Janie Love Obituary
Janie Love was born September 23rd, 1934 in Middlesbero Kentucky to, Lucille and John McKay. She was the second child out of six children. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Josephine Robinson; two brothers, Mason Horne and Charles Robinson.
Janie attended Rosenwald High School in Harlem, Kentucky. In the early 50’s she decided to move to Chicago IL where her sister had relocated and found various employment. She met the love of her life, Mr. Howard Love and in this union six children were born, Sarah, Earl Lynn (preceded her in death, Annalene, Darlene, Howard Jr., and Beverly. Their relationship was truly profound with love and to raise their children.
They decided to move from the city, to the south suburb’s California Gardens Illinois for a better living environment. Howard worked two jobs while Janie stayed home as a homemaker. After her fourth child completed high school, Janie founded employment at the Hysan Corp. in Blue Island IL. Since Janie was a friendly spirited person, she founded friends and attended church in the basement of Viola Davis home. She worked hard by fund raising to build their church which was successful under the late Henry T Rogers. Janie sang in the choir until after the death of her pastor. She then joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev Halbert. God lead her to become a mother on the Mother’s Board. She was the youngest mother out of ten. She continued to be a faithful member in St. Luke MB church under the late, Rev James C Hall, to serve as a devoted mother on the mother board in the house of the lord. Her commitment to the church through her service, fellowship and dedication now under the new pastor, Rev P. Mitchell Sr.
Janie was a fun-loving person full of laughter. She was known for her big lovely smile. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, which she was known cooking a feast and homemade cakes for her family and friends.
Janie enjoyed life and traveled to so many places. Whenever there was an outing or trip, she was ready to go. Mother always said, “when life throws you a lemon, make lemonade out of the situation, pray over it and stay positive”. Although she loved gospel music, she also loved R&B and blues. Most of all she loved to dance, even in her late years. She was the life of the party.
Janie’s health started to decline over the past few years. On July 5th, 2019, at 7:58 am God peacefully called Janie home, surrounded by her daughter, Darlene and Granddaughter, Georgetta.
Janie leaves to cherish: her memories, two sisters, Lela Robertson and Margaret Johnson; one son, Howard Jr. (Elaina); four daughters: Sarah, Annalene, Beverly, Darlene (Greg); nine grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a beloved friend, Richard Rogers; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends and a lovely church family at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.
