JESSIE DODD (B. B), was born to the late Ola and Joe Henry Dodd on January 28, 1926, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was the second of four children in this union. Having been preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Dodd, Robert Dodd and sister Faye Butler.
After graduation form Harmony Vocational High School, Jessie enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country faithfullv for many years before receiving an Honorable Discharge.
He married Ellee Lindsey on March 20, 1946, who preceded him in death. Tothis union, they were blessed to have four loving children, three sons and one daughter. Jerry Dodd preceded him in death In 1952, he moved to Chicago, Illinois and began his career at International Harvester (Navistar). He retired from Navistar after working over thirty years. After retirement he was employed by a company which provided security to a number of churches. He was a loyal employee and worked over and above the regular schedules to always provider for his family. Because of his diligence in his work ethics, his wife, Ellee was able to stay at home and care for the children In 1955, he moved to Robbins, Illinois. In 1961, he relocated his family to Markham, Illinois. There he and his family attended Christ Temple Church In his pastime, Jessie followed all the sports teams. He had his favorite teams which he cheered on faithfully. He enjoyed outings, horse races, traveling, fishing and hunting. He had good times with his fellow residents at the Jesse Jackson Senior Building He leaves to cherish his memory: sons: Harvey Dodd (Patricia), Pervis Dodd (Delores), Fonzie B., daughters: Patricia Ware (Jerry); grandchildren: Belinda, Harvey, Jr., Linda, Pervis Jr., Lindsey an Venus, great grandchildren: Johari, Jamilah, Joy, Jazmin, Pervis III and Carter. He also leaves behind his special friend, Flora Nickson to mourn his passing. There are a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends who will all miss him.
