Jesusa Diaz's Obituary
Jesusa Diaz Obituary
Jesusa Diaz was born on October 30, 1930 to Guillennina Sanchez and Marcelo Cruz in Humacao, Puerto Rico. She was summoned by the Lord to her eternal home
on Monday, October 14, 2024. She was residing at the home of her eldest son, Leonardo Deleon and his wife, Matrie, who along with grandson Jonathan, his wife Gabrielle, and great grandson Rueben, surrounded her at the time of her passing. Jesusa, whom the family affectionately called "Wela," married Leonardo Diaz on February 16,1956. In
l959, they and their first-born son moved to their new home in Chicago. Throughout their years together, Jesusa and her husband birthed and raised three more children, Ramon, Orlando and
Wanda Deleon. In 1964, the family joined Visitation Catholic Church, where they remained lifelong parishioners. Jesusa frequently volunteered to work in the kitchen alongside friends and fellow
members, Maria Nieves and Laura Gomez, for countless festivities and special events. She was also a babysitter for many of the children who, were baptized, received first communion, passed
confirmation and grew into adulthood while at Visitation. On Monday, May 2, 2016, Jesusa's husband, her beloved Leonardo, preceded her in death, a few months shy of their fifty-ninth anniversary. In addition to Leonardo Deleon (Matrie), Jonathan (Gabrielle) and Rueben Deleon, Jesusa is survived by her sister, Cannen Aida Sanchez, sons Ramon Deleon (Millie) and Orlando Deleon (Loma), daughter Wanda Deleon (Daniel Clardy), grandsons Ricardo Montanez, and Leonardo Jr., and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A fourth grandson, Taz Clardy preceded Jesusa in death in 2020. All of us who knew her on Earth mourn her passing and will mourn her passing and will miss her even as Heaven welcomes her and celebrates her arrival.
