John David Abney's Obituary
John Abney Obituary
JOHN DAVID ABNEY was born to proud parents: John L. Abney and Manesba Abney; each preceded him in death along with his sister, Ora Abney. Mr. Abney was born and raised in Chicago, IL. JOHN was raised in a Christian Baptist family; he attended church on a regular basis; becoming an active member of the usher board.
JOHN graduated from Hyde Park High School, and Dunbar Vocational High School. JOHN was also a member of the (R.O.T.C.) Reserve Officers' Training Corps. While in high school he took a wood shop classes, and constructed a round barrel, like a stereo cabinet. This would become his beginning into building creativity.
After completing high school, he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. JOHN left college and served two years in the U.S. Army. Mr. Abney worked several jobs including: CTA Bus Driver, U.S. Post Office, Unemployment Security; and he also managed a building.
JOHN left these jobs and attended carpentry school. It was here that he learned the building and craftsman trades. JOHN decided to work for himself; and he completed house repair jobs all over the city of Chicago; and the south suburbs. Mr. Abney became a mentor to several others; he excelled at this work, that also included jewelry making. Mr. Abney enjoyed traveling, cooking, and grilling at all our family events.
P.S. I know John David will never be alone because he found another home on the "Night Shift".
Mr. Abney's immediate family include: Romanda Wright (fiance); Yolanda Klosterman; and her daughter, Christiana; Kyung Williams (a step-daughter from a previous marriage); his other relatives: Dr. Jimmy Tillman, Arthur Abney, Mario Abney, Albert Abney and Anthony Abney. JOHN also has many great nephews, great nieces, cousins, and many friends and associates.
