Johnnie Parham Jr., was born on September 2, 1924, in Knoxville, AL to the union of the late Hattie and Johnnie Parham, Sr. He was the second of nine children: six preceded him in death (Margaret, Lilly, Juanita, Ted, Otis, and Aaron).
Johnnie attended McKinzie Temple School and started working at approximately fourteen years old at a lumber Mill driving trucks. Growing up he enjoyed playing baseball and the Dodgers were his favorite team. One of his greatest memories was his childhood pony.
Johnnie relocated to Robbins, IL. in 1951. He was married twice. Johnnie married Margaret Louise Parham in 1955, and they remained married until her death in 1990. Johnnie is the father of five children: three preceded him in death (Paul, Tommie, and John Haze).
Johnnie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Wheeler Chapel CME Church in Robbins, IL. He was a faithful member and Usher in this church until his health began to decline.
Johnnie worked a variety of jobs throughout the years. He retired from Ashland Cold Storage at 62 years old. He enjoyed repairing and restoring cars with his sons and watching Western movies and church services on television. As the patriarch of our family, Johnnie always shared his experiences, wisdom, support, and love to all he encountered.
On September 2, 2024, Johnnie celebrated his moth birthday with a host of family and friends. He spoke about this event the days following and was very happy about the love he was shown.
On September 8, 2004, Johnnie made his transition Johnnie leaves to cherish his mem01y his daughter, Barbara West; son, Ernest Parham; a brother, Warren Parham; a sister, Mary Alice Coleman; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
