Johnny C. Johnson (Bru) was born on May 28, 1945 in Magnolia, MS to the late Harry Johnson, Sr. and Clemertean Johnson.
He joined Union Missionary Baptist Church, Magnolia, MS at an early age where he was baptized. He was a graduate from
Eva Gordon High School in Magnolia, MS where he was a running back and punter for the football team. After he graduated from high school , the United States Army drafted him for service and soon after was dismissed with an honorable discharge.
He retired after 30 years from Roadway Express as an Elite Truck Driver. During his years as a truck driver with Roadway Express, he received the “Million Miles No Accident” award and an
abundance of Safety Awards. He knew every street there was in the Chicagoland area. Even after retirement his co-workers, friends and family woulds still call for directions to any place in the area.
He united in matrimony to Dorothy DuBois and during their union for over 30 years they enjoyed traveling, going to plays, concerts and spending time with family and friends.
He loved his family dearly and unconditionally. He was a lover of people and he never met a stranger. He was free-hearted, giving and always willing to help those in need without thinking twice.
His family and friends loved him dearly. He was great at cooking and grilling and he loved doing it for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Harry Johnson, Jr. and David Johnson; sisters, Paulette Felder, Paula Ann and Paulene Johnson;
a nephew Philander Johnson and niece, Tara Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his Loving memories his wife Dorothy of
Glenwood, IL; one son, Richard Roberson (Lavetta) of Hammond, IN; one daughter Michelle Plummer (Maron Plummer-El), Orland Park, IL; two brothers: Arthur L. Johnson (Myrtis) of McComb, MS, Edward Johnson of Magnolia, MS; and a sister Louisia Johnson of Magnolia, MS; one Aunt Florence Addison of Crestwood, IL; four granddaughters: Destiny Shepherd, Jamanique Roberson, Jaquaya Roberson, and Shannon Brown; grandson Maron Plummer; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, In-Laws, and Friends.
