This is the story of Lawrence McQueen Sr. (Cha). Lawrence was a great Man that was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. Lawrence's story starts on March 12, 1944, the 3rd child of eight to Arthur McQueen Sr. and Minnie McQueen. Lawrence was born in Brent, Alabama where he would spend his childhood, grow up and go to school.
Lawrence was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church and attended Mt. Tabor Elementary, Faceett, Jr. High and Bibb County High School. Lawrence met the Love of his life Mary Louise and they were married July 10, 1963. Shortly after they relocated to Chicago, IL and then to Robbins, IL in January of 1969.
Lawrence worked for General Electric for 30 years, retiring when he was 55 years of age.
Lawrence had a strong love for playing baseball, fishing, singing, capturing photos and watching sports. He was a die-hard White Sox fan.
Lawrence was called home November 13, 2018 with his wife and family by his side.
Loved ones that cleared the path for Lawrence are his father: Authur McQueen, Sr.; mother: Minnie McQueen; brothers: Authur C. McQueen, Jr., Eddie C. McQueen, John L. McQueen, John T. McQueen and Lavell Sanders; sister: Louisa Lockett and a grandson, Duane Houston. Loved ones that will miss Lawrence until they meet again are his wife of 55 years: Mary McQueen; his children: Lawrence, Jr. (Sherry), Felicia McQueen, Andre’ McQueen and Denise McQueen; one brother: Love “Buddy” McQueen and one sister: Louisiana “Big” Williams.
Lawrence’s grandchildren: One grandson, Jermaine McQueen; eight granddaughters: Aisha McQueen, Raikeya Woodard, Andrea’ McQueen, Tashianna McQueen, Coretta McQueen, Stephanie Potter, Diezasha McQueen and Emily Potter; 11 Great Grandchildren: (Honorary Great Granddaughter: Daeauna Lee); one brother-in-law: Enoch Kidd of Brent, AL; two sisters-in-law; Lawrence also leaves behind a “Special Cousin” Booker T. Wilkerson and a host of nieces and nephews.
