Laymon, Jr. was the first-born child to the union of Marie and Laymon Robinson, Sr. August 14, 1966, in Blue Island, IL. Laymon's parents relocated the family from Dixmoor, IL to Hazel Crest, IL in 1974, where he spent his formative years growing up in the tight-knit Hazel Crest community.
Laymon accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and he was baptized at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. His faith in God was established and solidified at Mount Calvary. There, he formed friendships that he cherished and carried with him. His faith in Christ remained a cornerstone throughout his life.
Laymon graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1984. He relished the ties formed with his classmates. He furthered his education at Jackson State University, where he graduated and earned his B.S. in Engineering. In November 1986, Laymon joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., where he formed friends and brotherhood that last through the sands of time. He was proud of his HBCU roots and carried those values forward in life.
After college, Laymon built a successful career as a production manager at Borden Dairy and Lever Soap Company, where he made lasting and innovative contributions. Later in life, Laymon joined New Covenant Baptist church, continuing to grow in knowledge of God's word. Laymon inherited good looks and suaveness from his father and grace and charm from his mother. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and love for his family.
