Leonard James Davis, Sr. was the first child born to Iola and James Davis on July 20, I',)4',) in Chicago, IL. He accepted the Lord as his Saviour, and was baptized at an early age. He was a "gentle and welcoming soul" and was a strong person both in physical strength and faith. Leonard attended Morgan Park High School; he excelled in both football and wrestling. Upon graduation, he found steady employment at Ford Motor Company at the South Torrance facility for 30th years. A dedicated employee, Leonard was recently recognized for his service and dedication from the South Works Union President of the UAW (United Auto Workers) ; for his exemplify Union Leadership, and assistance to their
organizational goals. His service did not stop at work his love in helping his fellow man extended beyond the auto plant. Pastor Steve said it best when he fondly remembered Leonard for not only his physical strength in loading trucks with food, clothing, coats, and shoes for the homeless but in his true faith in helping his fellow man know Christ and served as a genuine example of being "Christ--Iike" as he put his faith into praise and loved the following verse by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: "If I can help somebody along the
way, then my living would not be in vain" We knew Leonard was "a fisher of men" which explains why he loved to fish! A member of the Anglers Association, his love of fishing was known to those who loved and knew him A man of faith, Leonard was a beloved sibling, affectionately known as "Lenny Len"; husband, father, uncle, cousin, nephew,
and a "child of God. " With his fust wife Aleana (preceded him in death), Leonard was the father of Rodney, Charles, Anthony (preceded him in death), Mark (preceded him in death), Leonard, Jr., Sarah, Bryan (Debra), and Eric; his siblings are: William (preceded him in death), Lonnie, Frank (Agnes), Claretta, Annetrice, Vinava, Patrice (Arthur) and Cedric Gayne). Leonard leaves behind a widow, Ottie Marie; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Leonard loved his family, his life, a good meal, and His Lord Let us honor his memory by doing the same.
