Lewis Griffith was born on September 15, 1938, in Prentiss, Mississippi to his mother Irma Williams-Cross, who preceded him in death. Lewis' nickname to his family was Bobo. He had two brothers who preceded him in death: Adolph (AD) Williams and Fred (Dudley) Williams.
When Lewis graduated from Prentiss Institute High School, he moved to Chicago with his mother, where he started to work first in warehouse companies and from there to CTA in 1968. Lewis retired from CTA, where he worked for 28 years as a motorman.
Lewis accepted Christ as his savior at an early age. He became a member of Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church. Lewis united in holy matrimony to Mary Barnes in July, 1969; to their union, they had one child, Marcia Griffith
Lewis departed this life quietly on Tuesday, February 18. 2025, at home with his family by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Mary; his daughter, Marcia; and his granddaughter. Cierra, one sister in law, Winifred Whitfield; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends
