Martha Mae Chisholm was born April 26, l':)46, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Henry Chisholm and Gussie Turnipseed. At an early age, Manha developed a love of religion and reading the Bible. In July 1965, Manha Chisholm, married Ozell Loggins, through this union Manha gave birth to three sons.
Martha was very active in labor rights as a union steward for Teamster Local 743 Chicago. Also having political aspirations as a trustee for the village of Dixmoor, and later becoming the first female mayor of Dixmoor.
Martha, attended Wendell Phillips High School in Chicago class of 1964. Later she attended Bryant Medical School to become a phlebotomist, receiving her certificate in June 1976. She worked at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital (now University of Chicago) in the Hyde Park area of Chicago from 1976 to 1987. Then St.James Hospital in Chicago Heights, Illinois from 1987 to 2002.
Mom enjoyed the social life and entertainment of the mid and late 1970s in the Englewood District of Chicago. She and her sister Candace started a social group called the money bunnies. Mom had many nicknames from Dirty red, to her favorite peaches and later Grandma Peaches.
In 2002, after the passing of her youngest son Dwayne, mom started to move away from the limelight of politics, spending for more time with her children, grandchildren and later great grandchildren embracing and enjoying life as the Matriarch of the family, expanding 4 generations.
Mom leaves behind, a Sister, Candice Coleman of Long Beach, California; three sons: Darryl R. Chisholm, Bernell Loggins, and Maurice Loggins (Lynn); two grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
