Monee Melvin Obituary
On September 4, I'386 a beautiful baby girl, Monee Cherie Melvin, entered this world. At the same time a young couple, Lorita and Michael Melvin, were looking to start a family; through Divine intervention their paths crossed, and a bond of love and devotion was formed. Monee Cherie Melvin became their beloved daughter, the oldest sister of Miles and Melanie; and the eldest granddaughter of Deacon Johnny and Mary Addison; the beginning of a legacy oflovc and giving.
A Life of Love and Service:
Monee grew up in Dolton, IL, and was a vibrant presence throughout her life. Her heart was as big as her personality-radiant, warm, and full of joy. She cherished every moment spent with her family, and took great joy in sharing their special memories, proudly celebrating their love and bond on social media.
Monee artended Salem Christian Academy, and later graduated from St. Victor's Catholic School before earning her diploma from Thornridge High School. Monee's passion for service led her to AmeriCorps in Washington, D.C., where she contributed co national service projects, including being dispatched to aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Her calling in life was co care for others. As a Home Health Aide, she dedicated herself co providing compassionate care through Sweet Homes LLC, a Black-owned home healthcare agency. She not only assisted her clients but also built lifelong relationships, keeping in touch with them through holiday messages and heartfelt check-ins. Her dedication was recognized when she received an employee appreciation award for her outstanding service.
A Vibrant Spirit:
Monee was adventurous and curious about the world. She loved reading and would often sneak away from Salem Baptist Church during service co visit the church bookscore just co lose herself in the pages of a good book. She had an unmistakable style-bold colors, bright hair, high heels, long nails, many tattoos, and long lashes accentuated the switch in her walk and her radiant smile; her presence was magnetic, her joy infectious
