Novella Coleman born to Lucretia Berryman Jones and Cecil Jones of Lexington, Mississippi. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rose Hill Missionary Church.
After receiving her education in Mississippi, three children were born. She later moved to Chicago and met Mr. Walter Sims to this union a fourth child was born. She worked at Spiegel and General Motors(retired). She was a faithful church member and while living on the Westside of Chicago joined Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church and served on the Nurses Board.
Novella’s true passion and hobby was sewing. She was an Extraordinary Seamstress: Making church robes with monogram, bridal gown, alterations, prom dresses - some gowns were without pasterns and they were Just Beautiful, that was our mom.
Other talents were wedding planner, Fashion Coordinator. She loved fashion & house decorating was a work in progress, as it never ended over the years, she enjoyed it. Novella loved going shopping, she might return back home with no bags, but that was the excitement & joy being “out there”.
Later in life, she joined union with Mr. Sam Coleman. Novella also united with True Vine Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. James Lewis, Sr. There she remained (after a long illness) until called Home by the Lord.
No-No (Nickname), will also be missed by her friends at the Adult Day Care, and among friends. Her mother; father; son, Robert and nephew, Chris preceded her in death. Celebrating her life are: one daughter: Glenda; two sons: Benny, Anthony (Tony); one grandson, Raj; one great-great grandson, Caleb; one sister: Gladys; three nieces: Elaine, Marie and Kim; one nephew, Anthony; cousins and other relatives and friends.
