Patricia Brooks Obituary
Patricia Ann Brooks was born in Arlington, Tennessee on May 26, 1946, to the late Clarence and Amelia Turner. She was the eighth of nine children. Five of her siblings preceded her in death: Mary Ella Hawkins, Marion Turner, Clarence Raymond Turner, George Turner, and Mildred Maxell.
Patricia moved to the Chicagoland area in early 1970, where she met and married the love of her life, Cunis Lee Brooks. To this union were born three children: Cunis Brooks, Jr, Antoine Brooks, and Patrick Brooks. She was a resident of Harvey, Illinois for over 50 years. She was a full-time "stay-at-home" mom in the early 197o's to the early 199o's, raising her three sons.
Patricia accepted Christ at a young age. She was an active member of Bethlehem Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Nurse's Aide Committee, the Bethlehem Temple Praise Choir, and the Gospel Choir.
Patricia Brooks later found employment working for the housekeeping staff at a motel in South Holland, Illinois in 1990. In mid-1992, she became CNA certified, and worked as a nurse on the nurse's aide staff at Windmill Nursing home in South Holland, Illinois, for 15 years. In 2009 she decided to retire from the workforce, along with her husband Cunis Brooks, as he retired from his long career at Amtrack.
After a lengthy health battle, Patricia passed away at UChicago Medicine, Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois on January 18, 2024. She will be missed by many. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three sons: Curtis Brooks, Jr., Antoine Brooks, and Patrick Brooks; her siblings Helen Cleaves, Arneida Harris, Joe Turner, and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
