Percy Denton was born on August 12, 1940 in Panola, AL. to the late Frank and Mattie Denton. Percy was the seventh of their nine children. He accepted Christ at an early age. Percy received his education through the Sumter County School System.
Percy moved to Chicago, IL. in 1964. Percy married the love of his life, Shirley on June 22, 1968. He dedicated over 40 years of employment to Nestle Corporation; where he worked with dedication, and commitment until his retirement in 2010.
Percy enjoyed sports and horse racing. He cherished time spent with loved ones, offering his love unconditionally. He was known for his warm heart, generosity, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
Percy was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mattie Denton; his brothers: Cliff, Frank, Jr, William; and sisters: Louise and Mamie.
Percy is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; their three children: Broderick (Zen) of the Republic of the Philippines, Millie (Raymond) of Markham, IL, and Jonathan (Janet) of Palm Bay, FL; 15 grandchildren: Shanita, Broderick, Damien, Joshua (Myia), Jeremiah, Niles (Shanae), Constance, Najee, Jordan, Justin, Jacob, Wyland, Richmond, Zairah Gayle, and Zekiah; 16 greatgrandchildren; his sisters: Mary Lackey and Bertha Denton; his brother, Morris Denton; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other relatives, and friends who will miss him.
Percy Denton will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His life was a testament to love, faith and perseverance. His presence will be missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
