Ronald Eugene Cross was born, October 10, 1950, _in Charlotte, Missouri and raised in Chicago, Illinois. The son of Agnes and Tilman Fowler, both preceding him in death. He was a lifelong resident of Harvey, Illinois.
After graduating from Marshall High School, he enlisted in the armed forces and served his country honorably for two tours in Vietnam beginning December 4, 1969.
He retired as, Sargent , Ronald E. Cross from the U.S. Army with honors on November 25, 1975 with an Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon; Expert Badge with Mortar Bar; Sharp Shooter Badge; Marksman Badge.
After serving in the Army, Ronnie joined the Harvey Police Department where he retired after 30 years of service. He is preceded in death by his son, Ronald Cross, Jr. and his brothers, Gerald Cross and Tilman Fowler, Jr.
Ronald Eugene Cross (Big Ronnie), 68, of Chicago Heights, IL made his transition on Monday, March 25, 2019 at South Suburban Hospital.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 32 years, Connie (Daughtry) Cross; Aunt :Lucille; Mother-in-Love, Glendora Gray (C. Heights); Children: his son, Shawn West (Iowa); his son, Charles West (Iowa); his daughter, Lisa West (Iowa); his daughter, Keisha (Terrell); his son, Daryl (Jeannie); his son, Cortez; his daughter, Erica Olar Cross (Arizona); siblings: Lloyd Cross (Michigan City, IN),Michael Cross (Detroit, MI), Bernita Cross (Lansing, IL); Agnes (Ron) Meer (Michigan City, IN), John Fowler (Chicago, IL), Shawtell Fowler (Gary, IN), Effie Fowler (Michigan City, IN); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many close friends.
