Samuel Bragg was lovingly welcomed into the world on May 19, 1931, by his devoted parents, Easter and Ervin Bragg, Sr. He was preceded in death by both parents and several cherished siblings.
On Thursday, April 17, 2025, Samuel's earthly journey came to a peaceful close at home, offering a quiet and heartfelt farewell. At an early age, Samuel gave his life to Christ. Eventually, he became a devoted member of Shiloh AM.E. Church, where he nurtured his growing faith. During his time at Shiloh, Samuel faithfully served as Board Trustee, Stewart, and Treasurer, demonstrating his dedication to both the church and its mission. As his journey with the Lord continued, Samuel was led to Triedstone Church of Chicago, where he deepened his wall( with God and commitment to God's purpose.
When it came to education, Samuel was a self-made man. Over the course of his 93 years, he gained remarkable wisdom, practical knowledge, and a deep, lifelong curiosity about the world around him. He freely shared that wisdom with anyone who sought it, offering guidance shaped by experience and heart. His insight, resourcefulness, and ability to navigate life's challenges stood as a true reflection of his intelligence, strength of character, and enduring legacy.
Throughout his working years, Samuel was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication. He held positions with Standard Parking, Walter
E. Select, and retired from the Chicago Board of Education, where he left an impression through his commitment and character.
Samuel was blessed with a loving family that brought great joy to his life. From his first marriage, he was the proud father of two children. Later he found enduring love and companionship with his beloved wife, Bobbie Jean Bragg, with whom he shared sixty-four beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised three children and built a home rooted in faith, love, integrity and strong values. Samuel cherished his role as a husband and father. He believed in the importance of hard work, leaving a meaningful legacy, and personal accountability principles he lived by and instilled in his children.
