Sharon Candiff's Obituary
Sharon Candiff Obituary
Sharon was born on July 23, 1948, on the South Side of Chicago, to her loving parents, Bennie Eddie and Ora Lee Collier. As the eldest of eight children, she quickly became a pillar of strength and warmth within her family. Sharon's life was a testament to generosity, as she selflessly gave her time, energy, and resources to anyone in need, always with an open heart and a ready smile.
Her role as the oldest sibling nurtured a profound love for children, a passion that defined her life's journey. Though she did not have children of her own, Sharon wholeheartedly embraced the roles of mentor, guide, and caregiver. She touched the lives of countless children, ensuring each one felt valued and cherished. Through her unwavering love, wisdom, and kindness, Sharon's nurturing spirit left: an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Sharon also had a passion for learning, and this was evident from a young age. She excelled academically while at Harper High School and then at Olive-Harvey College, where she earned her associate's degree in 1974. Her dedication and drive led to a distinguished career as an Accounts Payable administrator with the Belt Railway Company of Chicago, where she served with excellence and integrity until her well-earned retirement. She also worked and volunteered at the Daniel Hale Williams Health Center. Sharon's work ethic and commitment left a lasting impact on her colleagues and company alike.
Sharon embraced life with boundless enthusiasm and a zest for adventure. She found joy in cycling along Lake Michigan, horseback riding, calving walks and field nips with the children in her care, and exploring the beauty of the Caribbean Islands, with the Bahamas holding a special place in her heart. Her vibrant energy and radiant spirit were an inspiration, reminding everyone around her that life is meant to be lived fully and authentically, saving each moment to the fullest.
As a devout Christian, Sharon was baptized at the Living Word Christian Center, where her faith blossomed, and her spirit of generosity continued to flourish. With a cheerful and open heart, she served as an intercessory prayer leader, dedicating herself to lifting the needs and concerns of others in prayer. Her selfless love and unwavering faith were a source of comfort and strength for all who knew her.
Bringing a ray of sunshine to every room she entered; Sharon's energy and glowing spirit will always live on in those who knew her and will continue to bring light as she joins our host of ancestors. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Eddie and Ora Lee Collier, and her brother, Lan)' Collier. She is survived by her sisters Carolyn Alcaraz, Brenda Collier, and Jeanette Loggins (Archie); her brothers Bennie Eddie Collier, Jr., Maurice Lyndell Collier, and Quinton Collier; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and surrogate children in love.
