Terry L Rogers' Obituary
Terry Rogers Obituary
Terry L. Rogers, affectionately known by many as "Shaft," was born on January 9, 1956, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, to his late parents, John Sr. and Nettie Rogers. He grew up in Chicago Heights and attended the local district schools during his childhood.
Terry worked various jobs throughout his life but found his calling as a maintenance technician. He retired in 2022 from La Grange Hospital in La Grange, Illinois, where he proudly served with professionalism and dedication.
"Shaft" was more than just a nickname-it was a name spoken with love, respect, and joy. He was a devoted father, a caring brother, a beloved uncle and great uncle, and a loyal friend. Known for his gentle soul, laid-back demeanor, and generous heart, Shaft touched everyone around him with kindness. If he had it, he would give it. That was simply who he was.
Music was one of Terry's greatest loves. He especially enjoyed singing karaoke with his family and dancing-oh, how he loved to dance! In his younger years, he'd "bust a split" and kick his leg high into the air, much to everyone's delight. His dance moves and joyful spirit made lasting memories for all who knew him.
Above all, Terry deeply loved his family-especially his son, Terry Rogers Jr. From the moment his son was born, the two were inseparable. They shared an unbreakable bond, filled with laughter, support, and unwavering love.
Terry had a habit of checking in on everyone, whether it was a quick phone call or an unexpected visit-just to make sure you were okay. He worried about his loved ones because he cared that deeply.
Terry leaves to cherish his memory: His loving son, Terry Rogers Jr. (Mother Holly Jackson) of Matteson, IL.; One brother, John Rogers Jr. (Rose); His devoted fiancée, Rosemary Grant; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and Wilbert Robinson (Best friend for 45 years); and many other friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Nettie Rogers, two sisters: Shirley Brand and Mary Johnson; two brothers: Paul Rogers and Mark Rogers; and three nephews: Earl (Tony) Rogers, Mark Rogers, and John Johnson
