Thomas Smith's Obituary
Thomas Smith Obituary
Thomas D. Smith was born on a cool and sunny day on September 26, 1987 to his beloved mother, Emma Dee McNeal-Whitlow and Thomas Smith, Sr. in Harvey, Illinois. Every time Emma presented her baby to the world he would always greet everyone with a big and loving smile. Thomas made his transition on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.
He was an active young man who loved playing basketball, going to the gym, and always looking for a way to get out of town to go on vacation. Most of all Thomas loved spending time with all of his family and friends. Thomas affectionately known as “Too Short” a nickname given to him by his great-grandmother. She deemed him “Too Short” because even though he was always active and full of life people would see him and say, “He is so little”. Although his stature was small growing up, it was not an indication of how big his heart and love was for his family and friends.
Thomas accepted Christ at an early age and in his early years joined church and went faithfully with his step-dad John Whitlow. He attended and graduated from Ralph Metcalfe Elementary School in Chicago, Illinois and Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills, Illinois. His love for weightlifting lead him to work I.T.W. for several years as this type of work was laborious.
Too Short was a dedicated, loyal, trustworthy and reliable son, father, uncle, cousin, brother and friend. He had a great sense of humor which could be easily discernible based on how a room would electrify upon his entry.
Too Short leaves to cherish and mourn his memory; his mother Emma Dee Whitlow (John). His father Thomas Smith Sr.(Lenora). His loving children: Thomas Smith Jr IV, Jreshaun Smith, and daddy’s little girl Azariah Smith. Joyce Jones (Robert) his grandmother and his great-grandmother Odessa Chatman. His aunt Joyce McNeal & his uncle Ryan Jones (Monica). His amour Ayana Childs. His brothers: Arthur Arnez McNeal, Matthew Harrison, Thomas Smith III. His sisters: Sharae Hale, Jessykka Smith, Jerrykka Smith. He always had a very special and warm place in his heart for his beloved cousin (more like a sister) Jennifer McNeal. Not to be forgotten is his love for his all of those that were raised alongside of him those that he called his siblings: Kevin Hughes, Natasha Hubbart, Jeffnay Booker, and Kristinna Bryant. In addition to a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, relatives and friends.
