Ule Williams, fondly known as Nick, was born May 25, 1935 in Macon, MS, to the union of the late Ollie Williams and Lillie B. Nicholson Williams. He was the fifth child of eleven children. Ollie B. Weatherspoon, Al-Curtis Williams, Arthur Williams, John Williams, Charles Williams and his daughter Michelle Curtis, all preceded him to Glory.
Nick attended grammar school at Noxubee County. He also, accepted Christ at an early age. In the words of Nick, “in 1956 at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church on the mourning bench, THAT’S when Christ stepped into my life, I have never been the same since!”.
Nick was known as one of Noxubee Counties greatest Negro baseball players. It was said he was so great that he could have gone to the Majors, as he played from county to county all over Mississippi. This is where he met and married his childhood friend and first love Vickie Gavin; and to this union four children weer born. He loved baseball so much that he named one of his children after his favorite play Stan Musial aka “Stan the Man”.
Nick stayed at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church until he transitioned to Youngstown, OH, later he joined Friendship Baptist Church, where he remained as a faithful member for over 30 years. Nick, was a powerful tenor of the Male Chorus of Friendship B.C. Nick and the Male Chorus sang praises to God all over Ohio. Nick moved to Dolton, Illinois, April 30, 2014, where he often attended Triedstone F.G.B.C. services and many memorable and special celebrations.
Nick was employed at Youngstown Foundry Company as a Crain Operator where he retired after 30 years. Daddy loved his family, his children and friends. He loved to travel, visit his children and his grandchildren.
Nick remained faithful to Christ until our Heavenly Father called him home on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at his home; with is loving children surrounding him. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: Lillie B. Steward, Chalayne (Gino) Johnson, Tammy Ann Williams; sons: Stan Williams, Gregory Williams and the late Michelle Curtis; 13 grandchildren: Carmencia Williams, Danisha Williams, Kenneth Hines, Jr., Latrease (Reggie) White, Kenard Hines, Britney Adams, Dylan Dykes, Asha Williams, Tammy Tyson, Bruce Tyson, Jr., and Raigan Williams; 18 great grandchildren; sisters: Lillie B. Johnson (MS), Mattie Williams (OH), Ella Mae Skinner (MS), and Bernice Williams (OH); brothers: James (WillieMae) Williams (OH), Eddie Willliams (OH); and sister-in-law, Maggie Williams (OH); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
