Valerie Vanessa Carr's Obituary
Valerie Carr Obituary
On March 25th, 1967, Ruby Dell Harbert and Charles Carr welcomed their daughter, Valerie Vanessa Carr into the world; she was born in Joliet, IL., and raised in Harvey, IL.
Valerie found her passion for caring for people; and after high school started a career in the medical field. She loved to care for people, especially the elderly and the disabled. Valerie had a passion for taking care of others, even if it meant putting her needs aside.
On the 4th of November 1987, Valerie welcomed the light of her life, her one and only son, Don-Traiel Carr. She cherished her son and wanted nothing but the best for him in life. In the early 2ooo's Valerie was diagnosed with Scleroderma. Soon after Valerie became an activist for scleroderma and often participated in Walk for the Cure. Valerie didn't let this illness stop her. Doctors cold her she wasn't going to make it to see 2015. Valerie proved them wrong.
In 2015, Valerie helped welcome her first grandchild London Kayleigh Carr her "Shamookie". Valerie was so proud of her grandbaby and in 2018 she helped welcome in her 2nd grandchild Nikolai Kayden Carr her "Puna Whatta Man". 2018 was a good year for Valerie. Not only did she get a grandson, but she also gained a daughter in-law Barbara Carr. Who was not only her daughter in-law but her gossip buddy and dear friend.
Valerie was a very blessed woman. She was especially blessed to have her Uncle/Daddy James Harbert, who helped her through all the ups and downs in life. She was blessed to have her siblings, James Wade Carr, Eddie (Pattie) Harbert of Nashville, Tenn, Cassandra Harbert of Nashville, Tenn, Bruce Fonville of Dolton, Il, Barbara Carr-Nelson of Jacksonville, Fl, and Fredrick (Brenda) Carr of Nashville, Tenn and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Valerie was also blessed to have an abundance of friends. Callie House who not only was one of Valerie's best friends, but their bond was so strong that Valerie made her the godmother to her son. Cashion Moore, her sister from another mister. Her friend and confidant. These bonds of true friendship can never be broken. Valerie also had a slew of what she called her "adopted kids" who she loved very much.
