Mr. Wayne Johnson was born on June 21, 1947 in Cairo, Illinois to Ray Johnson, Sr. and Lottie Mae Johnson (Hurn). He was the 9th child of 13 children.
In 1967 Wayne moved to Chicago where he found work at United Parcel Service as a package handler. He worked there for 30 years until his retirement.
While working at UPS in 1994 Wayne Johnson received an award with a symbol of sincere appreciation for loyal service for over 25 years. He received another acknowledgement award 5 years later in 1999 showcasing a symbol of sincere appreciation for loyal service for over thirty years and the appreciation of working Metro Chicago for 30 years.
Wayne retired after 30 years at United Parcel Service at the prime age of 50. For the remainder of years Wayne enjoyed retirement life with his siblings. Wayne had a real appreciation for music. He loved the Blues. He listened to it all the time and it was his favorite pastime.
Wayne departed this Life in the early morning hours of October 25, 2024 at his home in Harvey, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and·10 siblings.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memories, his sons James Johnson of Denver, CO., and Wayne Johnson, Jr., (Vanessa) Timms Johnson of Fort Worth, TX., and his
daughters Linda Cerva and Vonella Johnson of Harvey, IL.,
Tamara Griffin of Chicago, IL., Grandson James Johnson Jr., of Harvey, IL (Great Grandson, King James Jamier Johnson), Grand daughter
Tara Talia Parham of Charleston, MO and Grandson, Anthony Valentine of Mt. Vernon, IL.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. Ray/Lottie; Siblings: Ray Jr; Calvert; Jermone; Glenn; Ronnie; Betty; Sandra; Kay Francis; and Linda.
