Willie James Rowe Jr.'s Obituary
Willie Rowe Jr. Obituary
On August 13, 1958, Willie James Rowe Jr. entered this world as an adventurer. James was the second child born to Mrs. Sylvia G. Rowe and the late Mr. Willie James Rowe Sr. in Chicago, IL.
James attended elementary school in Robbins, IL. then Fort Dearborn School in Chicago, IL. While attending both schools, his teachers noted that James had more interest in the world around him than the world inside the buildings. One teacher told his mother to keep him reading an article daily and discuss it with him. James did just that. He read a paper just about every day.
James spent much of his time with his cousins who called him Jimbo, there was no need or reason as long as they were together. James' other nicknames included Rowe and Buddy Rowe. Music, playing spades, and eating pizza were a big part of James' life. He owned and enjoyed 45's, albums, and CDs. He would play and listen alone or with whoever was there.
In 1976, James became the proud father of a son whom they named James Diante. The day "D" came home, James was there waiting proudly for his arrival. Once he had him in his arms, he snuggled and kissed him as though he was the most perfect creation ever seen. James loved his son "D" and was glad he was his father. James could throw a rock better than any pitcher on a mound. He could spot a rodent, pick up a rock, spin, throw the rock and his mission would be complete. James also spent time catching tadpoles at the little pond with his childhood friend Turf
James received his CDL License and worked for FedEx and UPS to name a few. There was no place James couldn't find as long as he had a map. The world was wide open for him and as an adventurer, there were no limits. James found his way to Alaska as though it was not cold enough in Chicago. There he lived for 18 years. His health and family brought him home where he could be seen after and meet new additions to his family. James was now a grandfather, his family had expanded. James was loving, funny, smooth, caring, a confidant, and a man who loved quietly. He'd drop in occasionally, call, give you a special nickname, and protect you.
It was Wednesday, July 17, 2024, when James was called home to rest.
James will be cherished by his mother, Mrs. Sylvia G. Rowe; son, James Diante Steen (Nicole); Grandson, Jordan; Granddaughter, Morgan; Sister, Tina M Lee (Michael); Nephews: Michael Lee, Jr. (Christina), and David Lee; Great Nephew, Prince; Great
