Yolanda Cole's Obituary
Yolanda Cole Obituary
Yolanda Renee Cole is the second of eleven children born to Gilroy Miller and Earline Miller on February 25, 1967. Yolanda is affectionately known as "Renee" to her family and close friends. She is also known as "Yogi" or "Tootie" and was always called "Alonda" by her dear husband.
Renee was born and raised in Robbins, IL. and moved to Harvey, Illinois where she would raise her five children. She attended Bernice Childs Elementary, Thomas J. Keller Middle School and Dwight D. Eisenhower High school. Renee had a love for sports like no other, she won many awards for cheerleading, basketball, track and volleyball. Renee love for her education was evident,
she strived hard to reach all of her educational goals over the years. Renee worked as a nursing assistant while attending Dawson Technical Institute of Kennedy King College to obtain her Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate. She loved her patients, being an advocate for them, showing compassion, empathy, and concern. These were some of the greatest qualities she carried as a human being and as a Nurse. She dedicated the last thirty-four years of her life to the nursing field and has made many contributions to healthcare. Renee was very determined to continue her education; she was studying to obtain her Bachelor of Nursing degree up until the time of her passing.
At a young age, Renee was blessed with five beautiful children, Lanee, Lenita, Lanard, Lanesha, and her baby Lexus. Renee wanted better and decided to move out of the family home with her children. She later met the love of her life, Sidney L. Cole III, who assisted her in raising her beautiful children and they would spend thirty-three years together as one.
Renee loved her family; they all meant the world to her. Her family loved her as well, whenever anyone needed her, she was there to help in any way that she could. She would often say "I miss my people" as she spoke on the ones who are no longer here. Her presence around her family and close friends was always bright and left them with smiles on their faces. Her infectious laugh and smile could brighten up any room or light up any dark day. All ten of her grandchildren loved their Granny so very dearly. They would often call on her for anything because they knew chat Granny would do anything for them.
Renee joined New Shining Light church of God in Christ, when she accepted Christ at a very young age. She loved and honored God, and she showed it throughout her life. Though she faced challenges, Renee still put God first and worshiped his name.
Renee was strong in her faith, she loved her husband, children, and grandchildren. She would often brag about all of them and their accomplishments. Renee always dressed, looked and smelled nice. She took pride in her looks, her character and her family. Renee was strong, fierce, and always stood her ground on what she believed was right. She was an amazing cook, her dishes most loved were her mac and cheese, lasagna, mostaccioli, steak, pork chops, peach cobbler and the list go on. Her family would always ask her to make special dishes for them too, and no matter how much time had passed, she would make it. Even if it took her a few months they would get it. Renee heart was very big at heart; she would literally talk on the phone for hours with her family and her sister every day. Sharing laughter, dreams, cries, I love you's and tons of encouragement over the years. Renee was the matriarch of her family. Her love, advice, presence, touch, and thoughts will always be missed in our lives and all of the lives that she has touched over the years. She has left a mark in this world that will shine brightly for now and forevermore.
Preceding her in death is her grandchildren Asia and Donte' McGuire, father Gilroy Miller, grandfather Sterling Embrey, grandmother Fannie Mae Embery, brother D' Aryle Miller, uncles Leotis Embery, Donel (Sheila) Embery, aunt Clara John Jr) Richardson, cousins John Richardson III, and Marie Lloyd.
Renee leaves to cherish her memories, with husband; Sidney Leroy Cole III; Mother in law Loretta Rollins, Sister in laws Sherice (Michael) Austin, Erica Cole; Seven children Lanee (Damien) McGuire, Lenita Miller, Lanard Miller, Lanesha Miller, Lexus Smith, Christina Miller and Michael Cole; Ten grandchildren Janiyah Bell, LaKiya Lockett, ]ream Anderson, Danee' McGuire, Ji'Aire Bagwell, Damien McGuire Jr, Aryana Davis, King Sumari Miller, LaNari Miller, LaMir Miller; Her mother Earline Miller, her brothers Edward Miller, Marlon Miller, Terrance Miller and Cedric Miller; her sisters Rochelle Caldwell, Crystal Miller, Tiffannie Miller, Glenda Miller and Kimberly Miller; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
